[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Local branch of the Primary School of Kupres, Fra Miroslava Dzaje in Ravno, today has six students – Jovana attends the third class, Nenad and Anel the second, Anela the third, Mahir attends the fifth grade and they have a first-grader as well, Idriz.
“Here used to be more than 300 students in 2 shifts, there were several regional schools, now there are six. We are a small school full of love, joy, dancing and drawing. Students who leave after the fifth grade are excellent wherever they enroll, and we learn both Cyrillic and Latin. When I’m doing something for the 4th or 5th grade, younger students follow together with their materials so they know a lot more,” said teacher Fikreta. She added that their classes are inclusive as well, and that there are two students with dyslexia and dysgraphia.
It’s almost time to start the class, and on our question which subject students prefer, almost everyone replied – mathematics! Idriz said that he loves to draw, but Jovana said that she loves all subjects. Mahir is finishing the fifth grade and he said that he is sad that he will not go with the teacher Fikreta to school anymore.
“There is only few children in the village, and there is 10 kilometers from end to end, so that they are quite distant from each other and school for them is opportunity to play together. Therefore, when the weather is nice some of them come on bicycle or on foot earlier in front of the school, and they play until school starts,” said teacher Fikreta.
When the weather is bad, teacher Fikreta takes Jovana on the way to school. Her brother Momir is 4 years old and he cannot wait to go to school with teacher Fikreta.
Their sister Sladjana said that she would like to go to high school.
“My wish is to be a chef in a restaurant or hotel,” said Sladjana, who besides the separation of parents, found especially hard finishing the fifth grade, because she was specifically connected to teacher Fikreta with whom she was going to school every day. When she went to school, there were 10 students.
“Separation from us, as well as from the teacher Fikreta, was very hard for her. She wanted to go to school with Fikreta constantly, even when the weather was nice,” says her dad Dusan.
