The Assembly of Una-Sana Canton approved the loan for the Cantonal Hospital “Dr. Irfan Ljubijankic” in Bihac in the total amount of 13 million BAM.

The loan was supported by representatives of SDA, DF, and the Labor Party, and the crucial was the support of two SBB deputies.

“The total debt of the hospital amounts to 14 million BAM and the overdue debts amount to 13.2 million BAM. The debt to the suppliers is  7 million BAM, while the remaining is credit that the hospital is taking every year. I think that the situation in the cantonal hospital is very difficult and that it is good that we found the final solution in order not to come into the situation of a blockade of the hospital,” said the director of the hospital, Smail Dervisevic.

Premier of USC Husein Rosic noted that the loan was the only possible solution at the moment.

“We will determine certain measures in the upcoming period to determine the loss of the hospital on a monthly basis. This loss must be reduced to zero because what is the purpose of helping to the hospital for the next ten years and then creating an additional obligation and a new indebtedness. I believe that this management proved to be able to do this job because 1.8 million BAM of debt was returned,” said Rosic.

To recall, the business operation of the cantonal hospital in Bihac was in a very difficult situation for several years, it was burdened with large debts towards suppliers, which resulted in difficulties when it comes to the delivery of medicines, materials, and services. Moreover, the hospital announced that new lawsuits may be expected, which can result in blockade of this institution due to unpaid obligations.
