An agreement on financing the construction of a sub-section from Nemila to Donja Gracanica on Corridor 5C was signed between the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda and General Manager of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish.

Bevanda noted that two agreements were signed, i.e. the first for Component A in the value of 23.3 million EUR and the second for Component B in the value of 24.3 million EUR. The project includes 17.7 km long section Nemila – Donja Gracanica.

He noted that this is a loan with a repayment period of 20 years and a grace period of five years and an interest rate of 3% for Component A and 4.7 % for Component B. Today was also signed project agreement, and the signatories were the President of the FBiH Marinko Cavara and Director General Al-Herbish.

“The implementer are the Highways of the FBiH, and I received information from the director Adnan Terzic  that a prequalification public call has already been announced and that the opening of the offers will take place on September 29 and the process of contracting and conducting works will take place without major problems,” said Cavara.

Al-Herbish stated that cooperation with BiH has been good, and he further noted the importance of cooperation between BiH and OPEC. As he noted, the agreement signed today represents part of the cooperation established in 1997 and 12 projects were supported in the public sector in that period.

“Almost 200 million USD has been invested in education, housing funds and transportation, but only 8 % in the transport sector. Finally, I would like to note that the signing of these agreements says enough about how OFID is committed to cooperation with your country at all levels,” stated Al-Herbish.

President of the FBiH Marinko Cavara thanked OFID for recognizing the importance of this project, and he also stated that some greater development in BiH cannot be expected without the construction of the complete Corridor 5C.
