german-newspapersBERLIN, June 7 (Xinhua) — The following are the major news items in leading German newspapers on Wednesday.

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
The European Commission (EC) will present a discussion paper on European defense on Wednesday for the European Union (EU) summit to be held on June 22 and 23. The document includes three options, the most ambitious of which is to provide independent military operations and joint forces.

Die Welt
The German Ministry for Economic Affairs (BMWi) is concerned about the development in Qatar. Several countries in the Arab world have capped their diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing the Gulf state of supporting terrorism. Tensions between the Gulf States are causing turbulence in the markets.
