Statistic data is showing that in the period from the middle 2013 until the end of last year, a total of 68,000 citizens left B&H, and they are mostly young people. The saying according to which ‘the world stays on youth” appears not to refer to B&H anymore, since its population is among the oldest ones. The average age of the population in B&H is 40.8 years, however, we might find consolidation in the fact that our neighbors are little older, for example, the average age in Croatia is 42.1 years, and 41.9 years in Serbia. When it comes to B&H, its population is old and almost extinct.
And while young people are leaving B&H, some people are moving in and starting a business. This is the case of Cassin couple from France, who decided to replace the City of Lights with Sarajevo, as reported by Večernji List.
Tradition of bread in B&H
In Sarajevo, on the address “Branilaca Sarajeva 10”, Julien Cassin opened a bakery called “Maison Coco”, which offers a range of bread that can only be found in the original chic French bakeries.
People might think that this man is crazy for replacing Paris for Sarajevo, in which besides number of kebab restaurants, and restaurants with homemade pies there is a significant number of bakeries as well. Therefore, it is very interesting story to hear why this couple decided to move to Sarajevo and to open a French bakery. Juline was looking for the perfect place to open his bakery for a long time, and after he visited Sarajevo, he fell in love with the city and its way of life. Moreover, he noticed that the bread has a long tradition in B&H and that it is very appreciated on the every housewife’s dinner table.
