Mass sterilization of stray dogs in the Canton Sarajevo, which is funded by the Dogs Trust Foundation, have started on the 31st of August and will last until the 30th of September.
All of the stray dogs’ feeders, as well as all the citizens, are invited to directly contact the veterinary station that is on the list of the Foundation, depending on the municipality in which they live, and to provide them with detailed information about the dogs in their neighborhood that do not have an ear tag yet.
The Foundation emphasized that cooperation and support of the citizens is extremely important for the campaign to be successful, and as many processed stray dogs as possible, which will most certainly have the reducing effect on the number of stray dogs during the upcoming winter.
Dogs Trust Foundation is the organization for the welfare of dogs, which is aiming to help the responsible authorities to solve the problem of stray dogs in the legal, humane and sustainable manner. So far, the Foundation have funded the sterilization and additional processing of the total of 9,313 stray dogs in the Canton Sarajevo.
“It is estimated that only a systemic approach will lead to a gradual but sustainable and permanent solution of this problem,” as announced from the Foundation.
