A strong earthquake hit Bosnia and Herzegovina last night, and was felt in several cities, the European Mediterranean Seismological Institute announced.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 13 kilometers north of Zenica, in central BiH, at a depth of 9 kilometers.
According to the records of the Center for Seismology of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the magnitude of the earthquake in the hypocenter was 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale.
The village of Ljubetovo, where the locals suffered enormous material damage, was visited the morning after the earthquake by the mayor of Zenica, Fuad Kasumović, who spoke with the locals and promised help. Members of the Crisis Staff also arrived on the scene.
The meeting of the temporary committee for repairing the damage of the Crisis Staff took place in the house of Zehrudin Ibrahimagić, president of the Ljubetovo Local Community.
After assessing the damage caused after the earthquake, they immediately started ordering tiles and battens to repair the damaged roofs before the rains.
Four injured people, two of whom are being treated at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, as well as several damaged houses in the Zenica neighborhoods of Ljubetovo, Hece and Vranduk, as well as damage to facades in the city itself, are the balance of last night’s earthquake that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina at 9:43 p.m.
