mastersand woodBH furniture industry MASTERS&WOOD will employ 100 new workers until the end of this year in the furniture factory in Fojnica.

Last year, with the initiative of this company, Wood processing high school was founded in Fojnica. On that occasion, students have visited the factory in Fojnica together with the school director Merima Sijaric, and with the Mayor of the Municipality Fojnica Salkan Merdzanic. Afterwards, students and professors from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering headed by the chief of the Department for mechanical wood prof.dr. Izet Horman, and the director of the company Muhamed Pilav, have assigned two scholarships to high school students and university students. High school students Sanita Fejzic and Emir Polutan got scholarships as well as university students Amer Spahic and Haris Ibric.

“We managed to accomplish the stringent quality standards on the world markets, and now we are in the phase of expanding our capacities, which implies new employments. For now, we are forced to finance by ourselves the prequalification of workers that we need. This can be an example of the cooperation of the business and local community in order to develop, just in underdeveloped areas. All these young people will have a job in this factory when they finish their education. The best students will be employed as engineers, very good ones and technicians and the rest as carpenters. We are producing the furniture that is, under the tag “Made in BiH“ almost completely, being exported all over the world. On this way, we want to send a message that the future of our development is in our hands, and that we have to invest in the upcoming generations. Because of that, it is important to educate young people for the labor market and workplaces in that sector, and not for the Employment Bureaus“, said on that occasion Muhamed Pilav, the director of the company MASTERS&WOOD.

Last year, MASTERS&WOOD, had produced and exported more than 300.000 chairs, tables and other furniture to overseas markets through the largest retailers in the world.

MASTERS&WOOD employs more than 200 workers. Furniture that is produced in Fojnica is exported to 42 countries, to all continents, and is available in stores from Japan, across the EU countries to the USA. One of the most important partners of this BH furniture industry is the biggest furniture manufacturer and  the biggest furniture retailer in the world, Swedish IKEA.
