The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of General Hospital “Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakas” received the accreditation for the quality “Hospital – Friend of Babies”. It is a focused accreditation with a percentage of the fulfilled standards for hospitals that are friends of babies in the amount of 98 %.
The accreditation for quality is handed over, among other things, for promotion of breastfeeding, as well as invested efforts on the improvement of the quality of health care services that are provided to their patients.
“This hospital is on its path to reach even higher level in the health care system, and that is the path towards the establishment of a cantonal hospital,” said the competent minister in the Government of CS, Zilha Ademaj.
The initiative “Hospital – Friend of Babies” was started 20 years ago, and AKAZ developed standards and took over these activities back in 2013. The General hospital received the first “Hospital – Friend of Babies” certificate in the year of 2000, and management and employees have been supporting this project ever since.
The official certificate awarding ceremony at the General hospital also represented an opportunity for socialization of all babies born in this hospital, as well as their mothers, and representatives of the Association for Breastfeeding Promotion.
