Explosions occurred in several parts of the city of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said on Friday.

On Telegram, Klitschko called on the residents of Kyiv to take refuge in shelters, saying that air defense systems were working to repel the attack.

An airstrike warning has been issued across Ukraine.

Officials of the Dnipro, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa and Poltava regions confirmed the explosions on their territory.

Separately, Russia’s Defense Ministry said a Ukrainian drone was shot down over the western city of Kursk.

Russia began a “special military operation” in Ukraine in February 2022, more than 22 months ago.
