The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) adopted at its session the supplemented Information of the Directorate for European Integration on the eighth meeting of the Stabilization and Association Committee between the European Union (EU) and BiH, which will be held on September 11th, 2025, in Sarajevo, it was announced by the Council of Ministers of BiH.
During that meeting, a discussion is planned on the most important topics and challenges regarding the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement within the framework of political and economic criteria, as well as financial assistance within “IPA three,” it was stated by the Council of Ministers of BiH.
The Directorate for European Integration is obliged, in cooperation with the competent institutions in BiH and the competent services of the European Commission, to carry out all actions for holding the meeting.
The Council of Ministers noted that BiH has achieved progress in the past period in implementing the Framework for the realization of sustainable development goals, through strengthening institutional capacities, improving strategic documents, and the active involvement of local communities, the private sector, and the legislative authority.
The adopted Financial Framework for the achievement of sustainable development goals, prepared with the support of the United Nations (UN) and international experts, enables the definition of innovative financing mechanisms, including strategic investment funds, green bonds, and public-private partnerships, which represent an important step toward diversifying sources for reaching the sustainable development goals, it is stated in the announcement.
Indicators show different trends, such as a decrease in relative poverty and an increase in employment, but also stagnation or worsening in areas such as food supply security, life expectancy, immunization, and gender equality, emphasized the Council of Ministers of BiH.
The announcement adds that numerous challenges remain in the field of environmental protection, water resource management, and the efficiency of public administration.
The Council of Ministers of BiH also determined yesterday individual proposals on the ratification of two agreements and two contracts, which will be submitted to the Presidency of BiH for further ratification procedure.
