The appointment of the candidate of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) Borjana Krišto as the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was confirmed today at the first emergency session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, but the MPs caucus of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) voted against it.

An MP of the SDA Šemsudin Mehmedović told reporters that the caucus was fundamentally against the appointment of Borjana Krišto to that position.

After MPs listened to Borjana Krišto’s exposé, Mehmedović stated that it was one of a series of exposés that are all alike and that there was not even a word in it about the social status of BiH citizens, which he assessed as worrying.

“There was no mention of the reduction of VAT on basic food items, which was a solution that many countries resorted to that re affected by the economic and energy crisis. On the other hand, we have not heard that they will deal with the reform of tax or customs policies. The key issue such as the NATO path of Bosnia and Herzegovina was just shortly mentioned in the exposé,” said Mehmedović.

He states that the appointment of Kršsto to the position of Chairperson of the Council of Ministers would be desirable if she would bring changes to the political life of BiH that would favor the improvement of the living standard of the citizens.

He expressed his expectation that the Council of Ministers will adopt a much more serious work program than what they heard today in Borjana Krišto’s exposé, and that then there will be much more concrete moves and measures that the Council of Ministers plans to take, Fena news agency reports.
