The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, visited the Srebrenica Memorial Center today, where together with the Mothers of Srebrenica and the director of the Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić, he laid a wreath and paid tribute to the victims of the genocide.

“I had no qualms about my first visit to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina being to the Memorial Center in Potočari. Above all, I feel a duty as a citizen, and now also as a member of the BiH Presidency, to pay tribute to the victims of genocide,” said Bećirović.

In an open conversation with the Mothers of Srebrenica, a member of the BiH Presidency listened to the problems they face in the communities where they live. The Mothers of Srebrenica thanked him precisely for his involvement so far, as well as for the move to make his first visit within Bosnia and Herzegovina to Srebrenica. They had a basic message for a member of the BiH Presidency: We want justice and truth!

Bećirović said during the meeting with the Mothers of Srebrenica that no one has a moral or any other right to deny the truth about the genocide committed against Bosniaks, and that there will be no discussion with him as a member of the BiH Presidency. Judgments of international and domestic courts must be respected.

During the meeting with Emir Suljagić, a member of the BiH Presidency stated that the Memorial Center can expect his unreserved support in accordance with the capacities it has. He pointed out the great importance of the Memorial Center for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing that this role must be recognized by other levels of government. He thanked the director of the Memorial Center for the results he achieved in the development and affirmation of this institution.

Suljagić spoke openly with a member of the BiH Presidency about certain problems faced by the Memorial Center, as well as about the started projects and needs of this center, stressing that in the coming period even better cooperation with authorities at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina is needed, it was announced from the Press Office of the Srebrenica Memorial Center.
