Muriz Memic, the father of the victim Dzenan Memic, commented on the latest activities in elucidating the circumstances under which his son was killed.

Several members of the Sarajevo police and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH were detained yesterdaymorning as witnesses and suspects. This happened after the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) launched an investigation on August 31st against several people for the criminal offense of murder and assisting the perpetrator after the crime.

Memic noted that these activities were started only six and a half years after the death of his son in Ilidza’s Great Alley (Velika Aleja).

“I have already said that this will be an extensive action by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. I am satisfied and it has started. We told the truth from the beginning, but you see that it had to take six and a half years to find someone to do the job. We all know what Dalida Burzic (former chief prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office, and now a judge of the Court of BiH) did. I hope we will be able to reach the end,” he said.

He pointed out that among the policemen detained yesterdaythere are also those who were at the place of Dzenan’s suffering.

“I guess the prosecution knows what it is doing and why it is detaining them. We will wait,” concluded Muriz Memic.

In addition to Burzic, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH launched an investigation against the former prosecutor of the cantonal prosecutor’s office, Meris Cato, who was the acting prosecutor in the “Memic” case, against the former commissioner of the Sarajevo police Vahid Cosic, traffic expert Seval Kovacevic, Sarajevo police officer Sakib Kremo and several public figures.

Ifet Feraget, the legal representative of the Memic family, noted that for almost seven years he has been fighting for the moment when the circumstances of the death of Dzenan Memic in 2016 in Ilidza, Great Alley will be investigated as murder. The Memic and Feraget families continuously claim that Dzenan was murdered.
