Memorandum on Cooperation of Turkey and BiH should be signed soon

BiH Minister of Commerce and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović talked in Sarajevo with Turkish delegation headed by deputy Minister of Energy of Turkey Hasan Murat Mercan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of leading Turkish energy companies, as well as Turkish ambassador in BiH Ahmet Yıldız, and they talked about possibilities of investing in energy sector of BiH and establishing the business cooperation of BiH and Turkish companies.

Šarović acquainted the members of Turkish delegation with BIH’s energy potentials such as hydro energy potentials, mines, thermal potentials, and solar and wind potential, and bio-mass potentials.

He noted that BiH energy market is very developed and connected with the markets of the EU and South-eastern Europe, and that they work according to European practice and legislation, and also the market is liberal and open to new investments of public or private sector.

”We’ve agreed to sign a Memorandum on Cooperation between two countries in the field of energy, and soon we’ll get a proposal of text of memorandum which should be agreed upon and signed this year in Ankara”, noted Šarović.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Turkey Hasan Murat Mercan said that the goal of this visit was to see all the possibilities for implementation of concrete projects in the energy sector and developing the cooperation between two ministries.
Mercan expressed his wish that the memorandum be signed as soon as possible, which would make the first step in implementing the planned activities.

Ambassador Yıldız noted that Turkey will continue to give political and economic support to BiH.
