papa3During his meeting with priests, monks and nuns in the Sacred Heart Cathedral, after a distressing testimonies of three of them, Pope Francis addressed the audience.

The Pope dismissed the speech that he already prepared and began to talk from his heart. He handed the already prepared speech to Cardinal Vinko Puljić, saying that it is a very nice speech.

He said that people who forget their past have no future.

“You have no right to forget about your past. Not in order to revenge, but to make the peace,” said Pope Francis.

He added that Saint Paul in his Epistle to the Hebrews said:

“Remember your prelates who have spoken the word of God to you “. The Pope told the audience that those who are gathered here are those who have passed the faith, and especially those who have had difficult experiences.

Pope Francis said that he has a few words left in his heart, and one of them is the forgiveness.

“The man who dedicated himself to the Lord and does not know how to forgive, serves no purpose. To forgive someone a rough word, someone with whom you were fighting, is not so difficult at all. But to forgive the ones who have tortured you is difficult. They have done it, and they preached about how to do the same, “said Pope Francis.
