Millions of Americans are expected on the streets across the country in protest against the policies of President Donald Trump, as part of mass demonstrations organized by the “No Kings” movement.

This alliance of more than 300 organizations has organized over 2.600 protests in all states, including major cities such as New York, San Francisco, Washington, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, and New Orleans.

The previous gathering, held on June 14th, on Trump’s birthday, attracted huge crowds while the president organized a military parade in Washington.

The organizers emphasize that they want to send a message that the United States (U.S.) is a country of equality, the rule of law, and democracy.

“We will not be silenced,” said Deirdre Schifeling from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Leah Greenberg from the organization Indivisible condemned the deployment of the National Guard to cities and the persecution of political opponents: “We will not back down in the face of threats.”

President of the Teachers’ Union, Randi Weingarten, stated that they are fighting for the future of democracy: “We are not going backward.”

The “No Kings” movement is spreading beyond the U.S., with announced gatherings in Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa in Canada.
