The President of the RS Milorad Dodik said for “Sputnik” that he respects international borders, but that he seeks respect for entity boundaries in BiH because they are part of what is said in the Dayton Agreement.
On proposals of former officials and ambassadors from the West about the borders in the Balkans, Dodik said that it is no wonder that they say one thing when they are here and another when they leave.
“But what remains to us here is a straitjacket that we have to unravel here. So, it is obvious that multiculturalism has failed, and I haven’t said that. Merkel, Cameron, and others said that too,” said Dodik.
Commenting on the statement of the Director of the Office for South-East Europe in the State Department, Matthew Palmer, who said that the decision on imposing sanctions to Dodik is a “response to his constant anti-Dayton activities and statements,” the President of the RS invited Palmer to demonstrate one place where he violated Dayton.
He noted that sanctions against him are the recurrence of the past and that he believes that this will not hold for a longer time. Palmer, considers Dodik, evidently accepted the logic of the US Embassy in Sarajevo.
“We will see at the end if it’s a definite position of the new US government. There are some people with whom we contact, and who are in some important places and showing understanding for a conversation on that topic. I have heard several times the new president Donald Trump saying that they will not interfere in the affairs of other countries. Of course, big countries do not change their policies quickly, but I think there is an atmosphere of dialogue and it might be good,” said Dodik.
