The miners of the second shift of the Zenica Brown Coal Mines Subsidiary, whose account was blocked at the end of last week, did not go down to the “Raspotočje” and “Stara jama” pits, confirmed the President of the Trade Union, Elvedin Avdić.

He pointed out for Fena news agency that due to the repeated blocking of the account by the City Administration of the City of Zenica, due to about 3,000,000 BAM of unpaid default interest for the debt based on communal construction land, for which the principal has been paid, even today, they will not receive his salary for February and compensation for a hot meal for January.

According to the collective agreement, miners should be paid for the previous month by the 25th of the month.

“The miners have entered into labor disobedience, about which they have informed the union. We have gathered in the building of the House of Miners and will not leave the area, and on Tuesday we will gather in front of the City Administration and the Enterprise Administration building.

We also received the support of all mine trade unions from the Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina concern, and on Tuesday they announced that, as support for the protests, they would all send us a busload of their workers to join us in the fight for our rights,” announces Avdić, and points out how the miners suffered a lot.

The last time the City of Zenica, for the same reason, blocked the account of this company in November 2022, and the miners, due to the lack of money for salaries, hot meals and vacation pay, were also in labor disobedience at the end of January.
