crnadakMinister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak participated at the meeting of foreign ministers in Brdo near Kranj, in Slovenia.

The meeting was held as part of the initiative of Brdo Process, in the organization of Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and Croatia, Karl Erjavec and Davor Ivo Stier.

During the discussion, Minister Crnadak emphasized the importance of these meetings at ministerial level in the framework of Brdo Process, and he expressed the support of BiH to this kind of cooperation that is aimed at the acceleration of EU integrations of BiH.

Minister Crnadak supported messages of the host that the integration of the Western Balkans is in the interest of the EU and that only then, Europe will be completed. He also noted that a substantial and essential access to the European Union is needed and that it is very important that the final report of the European Commission, as well as the preparatory document for the summit in Trieste, were focused on concrete infrastructure projects, but also on some real problems, such as young people leaving the country, corruption and the current situation in the media.

“It is very important to achieve European standards of democracy and freedom through the integration process and to make institutions independent. The judiciary that is powerless to conduct processes related to the biggest affairs and against the highest officials or public TV service that works for the interests of one political party only, are not in the function of citizens and it is necessary to fix the situation in the field of rule of law and freedom of the media as soon as possible, not because of Brussels, but because of ordinary citizens and democracy development,” said Minister Crnadak in his address.

The Minister emphasized that, together with solving concrete problems in every country, we must continue to develop better relations with each other, because this strengthens the overall capacity for reforms and strengthening of institutions.

The ministerial meeting was held within the summit of leaders of the Brdo-Brioni process at Brdo near Kranj, in Slovenia.
