Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić said that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not give up on its efforts to ensure the continuation of the Zenica Steel Plant, despite the court decision that did not support the plans for its rescue.

He stressed that the Government respects the Court’s decision, but believes that it must not mark the end of efforts to preserve one of the most important industrial facilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We do not hide our disappointment, but we will not give up. We respect the Court’s decision, but we do not accept that this puts an end to the future of the Zenica Steel Plant,” Lakić said.

He emphasized that the issue of the Zenica Steel Plant goes beyond legal procedures and administrative decisions because, as he said, it is about thousands of jobs, the existence of numerous families and the industrial future of the country.

“We believe that the fight for jobs, domestic industry and the dignity of workers is a just fight that is worth fighting to the end,” the minister emphasized.

He added that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will consider all available options in order to find a solution that will enable the continuation of production and the preservation of jobs at the Zenica Ironworks.

According to him, the public will be informed in a timely manner about all further activities and decisions.
