Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, spoke on Monday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Western Balkan countries in Rome.

Minister Konaković expressed gratitude for Italy’s help and support to BiH on its European journey, referring in particular to the significance of the joint visit of Minister Tajani and Austrian Foreign Minister Schallenberg to our country last month.

He emphasized that the implementation of the reform process, above all the fulfillment of 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission, remains the focus of the work of the BiH Council of Ministers in the upcoming period.

He informed the interlocutor about the process of ratification of the agreements signed as part of the Berlin process in November last year and emphasized that regional cooperation remains a vital and irreplaceable factor on BiH’s path to the EU.

Minister Tajani pointed out that Italy wants to improve cooperation with BiH, especially when it comes to the European path. He expressed hope that BiH will speed up its path toward the EU after it was granted candidate status for membership four months ago. He pointed out the importance of strengthening economic relations between the two countries, considering that Italy is one of the most important partners of BiH in the framework of economic cooperation and foreign trade, Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
