Creating a more favorable business environment that implies certain legal and other regulative changes and approaches to foreign markets and the promotion of local products were the main topics in a meeting that was held yesterday in Sarajevo led by the FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Erdal Trhulj with representatives in the food industry.

The Director of the Office of the FBiH Prime Minister Ramiz Mehaković and the Director of Bosnia Bank International Amer Bukvić attended the meeting.

The mutual goal of the representatives of government and business people is to create a more favorable business environment, with suggestions and proposals from business that would lead to quality laws and other regulations that would stimulate production.

With this, it is necessary to find systematic solution so that domestic production and local producers would be protected from unregulated import of goods that is often of lesser quality.

It was said that there is a lot of imported goods, mostly from countries in the region, that is put on our market at low prices, which places local producers at a disadvantage.

A particular emphasis was placed on the necessity for markets outside the EU. Business people said that they carry this out themselves. They require help from the entity and state governments.

They agreed that there are already contacts with markets in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Albania. They are organizing visits where they could present the opportunities for local food industry that would be mediated by Bosnia Bank International.

They underlined a significant segment for the survival and development of the food industry and creating awareness of the importance of buying local products. It is necessary to make a quality and creative solution that would contribute to a bigger demand for BiH goods.

It was agreed that the business people would meet again with the representatives of the government in order to present concrete steps in the implementation of the measures that have been outlined, announced the Office of Public Affairs of the FBiH government.
