Mladen Grujičić in the Race for the Mayor of Srebrenica

Mladen Grujičić uskinfo.baSerb candidate for the mayor of Srebrenica Municipality and President of the Municipal organization of families of the captured and killed fighters and missing civilians from Srebrenica Mladen Grujičić said that he expects to win the upcoming local elections in Srebrenica and that he hopes that there will be some positive changes.

When asked about his relationship with the current Mayor of Srebrenica Ćamil Duraković, Grujičić said that the Mayor never respected the Serb victims and allocated the promised part of the budget for the organization that Grujičić leads.

“We live in the same settlement, but I never met him in town, we almost did not cooperate. Ćamil Duraković never respected our victims, and he wants us to respect theirs,” Grujičić said.

Grujičić hopes that there will be some changes in the upcoming local elections because the current political situation in Srebrenica leads to the displacement of Serb and Bosniak population which, according to Grujičić, resulted in many people leaving Srebrenica over the past several years.

“All stories created outside of Srebrenica resulted in no one coming back here, and more and more people are leaving. Conditions are such that an ‘ordinary man’ cannot meet the ends, people are brought to the edge of existence so that they could be manipulated with more easily, and that is what the Bosniak politicians and some people from the International Community are doing. I am sure that the situation can change, because the majority of the things depends exclusively on the mayor and his attitude towards life and the people who live in Srebrenica,” Grujičić concluded.
