The Mayor of Kalesija Municipality, Nermin Mujkanović, addressed the public after the brutal murder of a mother and her 13-year-old child. The police are still searching for the suspect in their murder.

“What I can say at this moment is that according to the information of the Kalesija Police Department, there have been no reports of domestic violence. It is true that the public is upset and we are caught off guard by this case ourselves. We should let the investigative authorities do their job,” said the mayor.

The Mayor of Kalesija said that it will be determined later whether a Day of Mourning will be declared in the municipality.

The Director of the Center for Social Work, Muhamed Majdančić, expressed regret that Kalesija was among the cities where such a case occurred.

“We are aware of a case of a family situation in which femicide occurred. They were in the process of divorcing, but nothing foreshadowed that such a case could happen. I urge everyone who is in any way threatened to contact the police and the Center for Social Work in order to prevent such cases,” said Majdančić.

He stated that the murderer and the victims, despite the divorce proceedings, lived in a common apartment. He emphasized that they had not had a single report of domestic violence.

“The proceedings proceeded normally, and the child was a good student,” he said.

–Police know the location of the perpetrator of the double murder-

As FTV correspondent Dino Durmić learned from police sources, the manhunt for the perpetrator of this morning’s murders is ongoing, who is located in the RS region. According to information, the police know his current location and the manhunt should be over soon.

–TK Prosecutor’s Office issued Statement-

The Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office (TK) has announced the horrific double murder in Kalesija, confirming that the deaths of Inela Selimović (37) and her 13-year-old son were caused by strangulation and an autopsy has been ordered.

Inela’s husband and the father of the murdered boy, Emir Selimović (38), is suspected of the murder, and a search has been launched at the BiH level.

As stated by the TK Prosecutor’s Office, the duty prosecutor and investigators of the Criminal Police Sector of the TK Ministry of Interior conducted an on-site investigation last night in a family apartment in Kalesija, where two lifeless bodies were found in the evening hours, a thirty-seven-year-old woman and her thirteen-year-old son.

“The woman and son were most likely killed by strangulation. An order will be issued today for an autopsy of the bodies of the deceased to determine the exact causes of death. All necessary investigative actions are underway, which are being carried out by investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Canton of Tuzla and the Criminal Police Department of the Kalesija Police Station, at the order of the prosecutor, in order to determine all circumstances related to the double murder,” the Canton of Tuzla Prosecutor’s Office said.
