The Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan said that the decision to ban the peaceful rally “Serbia before the Court” organized by the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in FBiH, which was supposed to be held on September 1 in front of the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in Sarajevo, was politically motivated.
“From what I could personally conclude from the media, it seems to me that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton succumbed to political influence and that this influence was decisive for making that decision, not security reasons,” said Karan.
He stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska did not have any security knowledge, which it would have ceded if it had, nor did it receive any inquiries in this regard from the Sarajevo police.
Sarajevo Canton Police banned the holding of a protest by the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, September 1, in front of the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to non-fulfillment of formal requirements and for security reasons, the cantonal Ministry of Internal Affairs announced yesterday.
The competent police body also estimates that, as a result of holding the public meeting in question, “there would be a real danger of disrupting public order and peace on a larger scale”, according to the announcement.
