Montenegro adopted the Resolution on Genocide in Jasenovac, Dachau and Mauthausen Camps

MPs in the Parliament of Montenegro adopted today the Resolution on genocide in the Jasenovac, Dachau and Mauthausen camps, Radio Television of Montenegro reports.

41 deputies voted for the Resolution, one was against, and there were no abstentions. The opposition and several representatives of the government did not attend the vote.

The President of the Montenegrin Parliament Andrija Mandić, as the proposer, stated earlier today that Montenegro will be the first country to adopt the Resolution on the Genocide in Jasenovac.

According to him, the Resolution is not there to judge, but to better understand the knowledge that evil is only evil, regardless of who committed it.
He said that in this way they want to send a message of respect to their ancestors.

“This Resolution is not harmful, but beneficial. Montenegro will be the first country in the world to adopt the Resolution on Jasenovac and condemn that genocide,” said Mandić.

By the way, the Resolution on Jasenovac is in the parliamentary procedure from May 17, when it was supported by 43 out of 81 representatives in the Parliament of Montenegro at the initiative of the head of the Montenegrin Parliament Andrija Mandić.

Croatia, however, threatened that the adoption of such a resolution would slow down Montenegrin’s ambition to become a full member of the European Union.
