DijasporaThe United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Technological Park INTERA Mostar will organize a forum named “The Inclusion of Diaspora in the Development of B&H”, which will be held on Wednesday, 19 April.

USAID will use this opportunity to introduce its new project, which is worth approximately 2 million dollars, and which will be directed to the inclusion of the BH Diaspora in the development of the country.

According to the USAID, investors, representatives of Diaspora and private sector, Alexanar Bond, senior official to the USAID Mission will join, all in order to have a discussion of how to use the potential of diasporas in order to develop B&H.

Using an innovative approach, USAID will support the establishment of the public and private partnerships, domestic and multinational companies, foundations, nongovernmental sectors, representatives of the academic community and organizations from Diaspora, as well as networks that work on the strengthening of the mobilization of human and financial resources of the diaspora.

With over 1.4 million citizens living abroad, the B&H diaspora represents approximately 40% of the number of the B&H population. During 2011, for instance, the amount of money that came from the diaspora was for over 2 billion American dollars, which represents 10% of the total GDP of the country.
