Mostar: In “Aluminij” New Line Put Into Operation

In the Mostar factory ‘’Aluminij’’ a new line of operations was put into place today for small cast alloy ingots that weigh from 8-10 kg. This completes the first stage of a six million euro project of upgrading the current production capacity of Mostar’s foundries, which is one of the six most advanced in the world.

‘’With the commercial production of small ingots we are beginning immediately using our current furnace slags. The second stage of the project has started, and it concerns a new mounting-casting furnace with a capacity of 50 tons and should begin its operation in mid-April. Given that it is a furnace that burns stronger, it has a stronger melting strength and would allow us to increase the total production capacity for 30,000 tons annually. This would amount to a larger amount of solid blend cartridges’’, said that Director for Production and Development Željko Boras.

‘’Alumijij’’, together with the Austrian Company Hertwich Engineering, and in a credit agreement with the Swiss Glencore, mentioned a multi-million dollar contract for the purchase and installation of the most modern casting equipment on the market today.

The line for a small ingot casting has successfully been implemeneted, and it is important to emphasize how the new smelting furnace, due to regenerative burners, would offer a better guarantee of combustion gases and less environmental pollution, even if ‘’Aluminij’’ in this area has always operated within the limits of what is acceptable.

‘’Aluminij’’ has until now, except for logs, blocks and wires and production offers ingots weighing 11 and 15 kg, and we chose lines for smaller castings because it is about European standards and there is a distinct need for that in the market.
