roads (1)In the next four to five years, it is foreseen that the complete program of modernization of roads in the Federation, through the international credit of 173 million Euros, will take place.

“I hope that funds will be operational soon so we can make the necessary progress, because no one in the Federation is satisfied with the roads condition. Any new investment that allows correction of this condition will be the satisfaction of all those who use the road – said the president of the Federation of BiH Marinko Cavara. Moreover, Mr. Cavara signed a Loan Agreement for the Federation between BiH and the International Bank for Reconstruction and development (IBRD). The money from the Loan Agreement will be used for modernization of roads in the Federation.

This is one of the three agreements, with which the Federation will realize the previously mentioned projects. The loans are given by the World Bank – IBRD with 58 million euros, the EIB and the EBRD of 50 million with 65 million Euros.

Since both houses of the Federal Parliament accepted this plan, 173 million for the modernization of roads in the Federation was approved.

From PE “Cesta FbiH”, was confirmed that the program of modernization of road projects include the construction of new sections, especially the main road M17.3 Neum-Stolac. Moreover, to continue construction of the III section of the tunnel behind the tunnel Karaula on the highway M18 Tuzla-Sarajevo and construction of bypasses around the towns of Mostar, Bugojno, Donji Vakuf, Gorazde and Cazin. In addition, planed are the construction of the slow lane, addressing black spots, repairing flood damage, construction of roads that were destroyed by the floods.

“Main roads represent the basic road network in the Federation. The condition of roads is generally good in terms of pavement and road infrastructure. Several roads stand out above the European average (M2, M4, M5, M14.1, M17, …), when comparing the road of the same rank with the main roads in Federation. Drivers from Europe and neighboring countries are given an extensive network of motorways and expressways, and they make a comparison with the main roads in the Federation, which is the reason that they see the poor condition of main roads in the Federation” – was said from JP Road Federation.
