Murphy: Dodik’s Statements Directly Challenge The Territorial Integrity Of BiH

Former United States (U.S.) Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH) Michael Murphy warned that statements by the leader of the SNSD, Milorad Dodik, which question the survival of BiH, represent a direct challenge to the territorial integrity of the state, which, as he emphasizes, is a key U.S. strategic commitment in BiH.

In a post on the social network X, Murphy recalled a series of Dodik’s statements claiming that “Serbs must renounce BiH,” that BiH is an “impossible state that should not exist,” and that coexistence in BiH is an “illusion.”

Such rhetoric, Murphy believes, essentially constitutes calls for secession, even though a different political vocabulary is used. He therefore openly raised the question of how such statements can be interpreted as a change in approach following the lifting of U.S. sanctions, emphasizing that they directly challenge the territorial integrity of BiH, which he described as a fundamental interest of the U.S. in our country.
