The Director of the Sarajevo Touristic Board, Nermin Muzur, told for Fena that in January, the number of tourists increased by 38.3 percent, and the number of overnight stays by 97 percent compared to the same month last year.

According to Muzur, these statistical data are considered as a success of the Touristic Board, whose goal was to increase the number of tourists in Sarajevo for New Year’s Eve, which reflected on the overall result.

“Also, this is the result of our promotion of Sarajevo as a touristic destination all over the region and at international fairs,” he explained.

After presenting in Madrid and Istanbul, Muzur added, they are planning to present Sarajevo touristic capacities at the touristic events and fairs in Belgrade, Berlin, Moscow, Dubai and China.

He reminded that at the 22nd International Tourism Fair in Istanbul, EMITT 2018, the stand of Canton Sarajevo (CS) Touristic Board received a grand prize for the best organized stand.

Muzur also emphasized that at the fair in Belgrade, at the end of February, they united the Touristic Boards of the cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that they will present the offer together with Tuzla, Una-Sana, Central Bosnia and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

According to the data of the Institute for Informatics and Statistics of the CS in December 2017, 28.117 tourists stayed in Sarajevo, and 51.420 overnight stays were realized.
