The US Senator Roger Wicker and congressman Eliot Engel nominated Serbian activist for human rights Natasa Kandic and the NGO from Belgrade “Fond for Humanitarian Right on the Nobel Prize for 2018″.

“We are confident that this kind of recognition would be an additional stimulus to peace and reconciliation in this region as well as other areas in the world,” stated Wicker and Engel.

Kandic established the foundation back in 1992 with the aim to document the violation of human rights that were committed during the war conflict in the area of former Yugoslavia.

According to the US Senator and congressmen, this documentation became essential for the realization of justice in both The Hague Tribunal as well as the regional courts that are dealing with war crimes.

“Natasa Kandic is an inspiration to the new generation of dedicated young experts who are leading the foundation now,” as they stated.
