cvrsnica-foto-adnan-bubalo-2016Prestigious National Geographic Traveler included Via Dinarica trail among the best world destinations for 2017. Via Dinarica, a mega-alpine and hiking trail which connects natural and cultural landmarks in the Dinara mountain range, is thus recognized and approved as a major developmental opportunity and potential for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The news was published on the website of National Geographic and the full article will be available in shops around the world by the end of the month, in a special edition of Nat-Geo Traveler Best of the World.

Within the program “Travellers 21 Best of the World”, the National Geographic Traveller recognized the natural beauties of the Balkans and paid tribute to all organizations, alpine clubs and federations, alpinists, adventurists and other enthusiasts who have worked committedly on this concept over the past few years.

Terra Dinarica, organization which coordinates the activities of the Via Dinarica project in BiH, stated that this prestigious recognition is a result of persistent, strenuous and visionary work of partner organizations, volunteers and international developmental agencies UNDP and USAID in BiH. BiH is the first country in the region to mark and prepare its sections of the White Trail Via Dinarica, which was officially opened in June this year in Blidinje.

Via Dinarica is not just a developmental opportunity, the Terra Dinarica stated, but it is also our reality and a confirmed fact. In that regard, it is necessary to encourage local authorities and partner organization to work even harder on the preservation of natural wealth of BiH which can and must be used in a sustainable way, and which can and which does bring economic benefits to the people.

Via Dinarica passes through BiH in three trails: Green, White and Blue. The Green trail passes through BiH woods and is ideal for hiking and recreation for families. The Blue trail passes through the southeastern part of Herzegovina and connects that region with the Adriatic Sea. The White trail, which connects the peaks of the highest BiH mountains, is the most interesting trail for the so-called thru-hikers, adventurists, alpinists, climbers and all those who love untouched nature, peace and calmness.

Details about the concept Via Dinarica are available on the website www.viadinarica.com.
