Tuzla Canton will host the international NATO exercise of civil protection in the elimination of consequences of disasters in this area in September this year. The aim of that exercise is to check the capacity of state for recovery from disasters and mutual assistance.
As it could be heard during planned conference that was held in Tuzla, on a several-day exercise is expected almost 800 participants, as well as rescue workers and other members of the various services from more than 30 countries.
They planned a simulation of flooding and the strongest earthquake, collapse of buildings, as well as traffic accidents on land and water.
“This exercise will prove to the local and international community that BiH can be a good partner that is willing to provide assistance, not only to ask for it,” said Deputy Minister of Security of BiH Samir Agic.
The head of the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) Gunter Bretschneider said that our country expects extremely difficult and challenging exercise in the month of September.
“It is very important that the FBiH and the RS are working together, in a coordinated way, to answers to disasters, as they worked together in 2014 during the floods,” said Bretschneider.
For the realization of this exercise were provided funds in the amount of 1.5 million BAM, of which 50 % was financed by NATO, 40 % by BiH and 10 % by Canton Tuzla.
“It was not easy to get one of this important manifestations. This is a privilege, an honor, but also an obligation for our Canton. The exercise is designed to show willingness for mutual cooperation, organization and fast action on the possible disasters that can happen,” as said in the statement of Prime Minister of TC, Bego Gutic.
