NATO to decide on B&H Today

NATO Meeting zastita.infoAt today’s meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, ministers of foreign affairs of the member countries of NATO are expected to reach a positive decision on the call for membership of Montenegro in the largest military-political alliance in the world, but also to discuss about Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia, announced the US Ambassador to the Alliance Douglas Lute.

“Apart from the decision on Montenegro, there are three more countries which expressed clear intention to join NATO. I think the ministers will discuss the progress of three other candidates as well. Those candidates are Georgia, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Lute said.

As already known, the ministers of foreign affairs of member countries of NATO, despite slight opposition from France, are today expected to send a call for membership to Montenegro due to geostrategic interest, although that country is in heavy political crisis and does not meet many criteria for membership in the largest military-political alliance in the world.

This call is expected to turn into membership of Montenegro in NATO until the summit in Warsaw in June 2016, with the aim of the expansion not being a topic at the summit since a positive decision on accepting Macedonia will have to be reached then.
