The new Apostolic Nuncio in BiH and Montenegro, Archbishop Luigi Pezzuto arrived yesterday in Sarajevo, where the Archbishop of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljić and the President of the Bishops’ Conference in BiH Franjo Komarica, as well as the former Charge d’Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature Joseph Arshad greeted him.

‘’The Catholic Church in BiH receives you with great joy as an extended hand of the Holy Father Benedict XVI. Your presence and your work in this country in the name of the Pope will be encouragement and inspiration to us all in this country to live and persevere as believers in Christ, the living church’’, said Puljić to Nuncio Pezzuto.

Also, Puljić said that he is especially happy because the new Nuncio will continue with activities to implement the Basic Agreement between the Holy See and BiH.

Nuncio Pezzuto said that his presence in BiH plays only a mediatory role and that he is certain that “behind himself and his activities the acts of the Pope himself will be visible”.
