A media conference was held after the session of the Administrative Board of the Sarajevo University Clinical Center at which the General Director Sebija Izetbegovic was dismissed.
The newly appointed Acting Director, thoracic surgeon Alen Pilav, addressed the public and said that this health institution “opens its doors” to all patients.
He stated that he would try to legally bring back all the doctors and medical staff who left Sarajevo University Clinical Center.
“I am a surgeon by profession, Sarajevo University Clinical Center has been my home for 30 years. I have always wanted to be a surgeon, that is my approach to work as well. We need to look forward,” said Pilav.
Moreover, he stated that he wants this health facility to once again be a center where patients will want to come for treatment.
“I want to return the Sarajevo University Clinical Center to where it belongs, as one of the best hospitals in the region,” emphasized Dr. Pilav.
Speaking about the dismissal of Sebija Izetbegovic, Dragan Stevanovic, a member of the Board of Directors of the Sarajevo University Clinical Center, pointed out that the decision was made in accordance with the law and statute.
He stated that Izetbegovic received the decision on dismissal and expressed her opinion about it.
“We did everything according to the law. There will be a very important period to bring the founding act of the Sarajevo University Clinical Center into line with the law and then to amend and change the Statute of Sarajevo University Clinical Center,” said Stevanovic.
In the Decision on Dismissal, it is stated that Izetbegovic was dismissed due to the loss of her status as a medical faculty teacher in the rank of full or associate professor, or assistant professor.
It is further stated that after receiving this Decision, Izetbegovic will hand over official items and documentation to the acting director within three days, Klix.ba reports.
