Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić is participating at the international defense industry fair EDEX 2025 in Cairo, where he met today with Mohamed Salah el-Din Mostafa, Egypt’s Minister of Military Production. The meeting focused on creating new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Lakić underlined that the Federation of BiH – and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole – has a long-standing tradition and strong capacities in the defense industry, noting that Egypt produces key materials needed for domestic production. He added that, alongside existing strengths, there is room to develop joint projects.

“Egypt is a very important partner for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our companies have expertise, experience and proven results, and meetings like this open possibilities for new contracts, joint investments and deeper industrial cooperation. I presented several project ideas that we could implement together in the near future,” Lakić stated.

Minister Salah welcomed the discussion, commended the performance of BiH companies at EDEX 2025, and supported the initiative to create the conditions for joint military industry projects, stressing the need to move quickly.

He reiterated Egypt’s appreciation for its long-standing relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and presented the technological, production and human capacities of Egyptian military production companies. He also pointed to existing successful cooperation with several BiH firms and confirmed Egypt’s readiness to expand partnerships and joint investments.

Both ministers agreed that certain mutually beneficial projects should begin as soon as possible due to the significant potential for strengthening cooperation, the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry reported.
