central bankThe building of the Central Bank of BiH, which is one of the most monumental buildings in the capital city of BiH, was recently fenced by scaffolding, which marked the beginning of the restoration.

“Considering that this is almost 80 years old object, some parts of the facade from the side of sidewalk and terrace on the southern side of the building (Titova Street) were damaged over the time. The Central Bank of BiH, considering the legal obligation to maintain the object and the safety of citizens, initiated activities on the repair of the object,” as confirmed from the Central Bank of BiH.

The Central Bank of BiH is financing the restoration by itself. The cost of restoration is estimated at 104.491,53 BAM and the deadline for completion of works is 90 days from the beginning of works, i.e. from June 1, 2017.

The Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH adopted a decision on declaring the object as a National Monument in 2009.

As explained in the Decision on the Declaration of the National Monument, this object has a great documentary value due to the preservation of architectural elements, stone plastics, and sculpture elements. Interior elements, such as mosaics, ceramics on floors, stone staircases etc, were preserved inside the building. Within the object are stored numismatic collections, art paintings, and other items.
