According to data from records maintained by the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA BiH), a continuous decline in the birth rate was recorded throughout the country in the period from 2023 to 2025.

In 2023, 33,156 children were born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in 2024, this number was 32,421.

As of October 27 of this year, 23,663 newborns were recorded, which is almost 9,500 children less than in 2023.

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to record the largest number of newborns (15,341), followed by the Republika Srpska (7,738) and the Brčko District (584).

These data indicate a continued trend of decreasing numbers of newborns in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is an important indicator of demographic trends in the country, the IDDEEA announced.
