General Ratko Mladić, the former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, has suffered a mild stroke and is now in a very serious condition.

This was told to Srna by the general’s son, Darko Mladić.

He says he expects to receive documentation from the medical service of the tribunal in The Hague to see exactly what happened on Friday, April 10.

“The general was transferred to the hospital, so they returned him to the detention unit the same day. He most likely had a mild stroke,” said Mladić’s son.

He explained that the Mladic was taken for tests on Friday, but that no documentation had yet arrived.

“They promised us that they would send us those documents. Apart from a verbal conversation with the doctor, we have not received anything. We are waiting for them to send us those results, which they did the same day, but we have not received anything yet,” said Darko Mladić.

He added that his father is in a very serious condition, noting that they can no longer even put him in a wheelchair.

“He communicates poorly and his condition is very worrying,” said Darko Mladić.

Mladić, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for war crimes during the wars of the 1990s in the former Yugoslavia, has suffered multiple strokes and has serious cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, neurological damage, and kidney problems.

He has been hospitalized several times and has undergone various medical and therapeutic procedures, including heart and leg surgeries.

Since 2024, he has been in a detention hospital in The Hague.
