In the first six months of this year, the number of tourists in Canton Sarajevo was increased by 15 % in comparison to the same period last year.

The director of Tourist Board of CS Nermin Muzur considers this as a very good result since the current trend of the growth of tourists in the world is 6 %, which means that our growth is 2.5 times bigger.”

When it comes to visitors from the region, Muzur said that the largest number of guests are coming from Croatia, while the largest number of tourists from Europe are coming from Turkey. When it comes to other continents, the largest number of tourists is from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the number of tourists from China increased as well.

Muzur emphasizes that the Tourist Board of Canton Sarajevo worked a lot on the promotion of the Canton Sarajevo and BiH.

He also noted that they introduced online registration of tourists in the CS, which will give a better insight into the number and structure of the guests, and this information will ultimately make it easier for the Tourist Board of CS when it comes to the creation of the plan of activities.

“We will be able to see the trend of tourist arrivals, which countries are recording an increase or decrease in the number of tourists, who are the most frequent guests etc.,” stated Muzur.

He believes that the existing Law on tourism should be amended as well.

He also stated that tourism is definitely a positive thing and it records a positive trend in Sarajevo. He added that the Tourist Board should be turned into a modern company for destination management.
