Turkey and the delegations of many other countries left the hall and protested against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Netanyahu entered the hall and headed to the lectern to address the 79th session of the UNGA.
However, at that moment, the Turkish delegation, led by Turkey’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz, left the hall before Netanyahu began his speech.
Many other delegations also did the same and the hall emptied considerably.
While Netanyahu was at the podium, some voices could be heard in the hall.
Allowing Netanyahu to address the UN in recent days has drawn fierce criticism.
