In Sweden, according to the Interpol warrant, Dedo Odobasic was arrested and charged with war crimes against civilians of Serbian nationality in Brod.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska was informed that Odobasic was arrested on January 2, the Ministry of Interior said.

The Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina forwarded an extradition request to Sweden with documentation related to the arrest of Odobasic.

Odobašić’s guilty plea before the District Court in Doboj was postponed in March last year because he did not appear in the courtroom. The court did not receive confirmation that Odobasic was served with a summons that was sent to his address in Sweden through diplomatic channels.

The Doboj District Public Prosecutor’s Office charges Odobasic with the torture of Serb civilians in Brod in March and June 1992.

According to the Doboj District Public Prosecutor’s Office, Odobasic abused the injured party in the building of the Brod Municipal Assembly (Bosanski Brod) after he was tortured and beaten by members of the Croatian Defense Council.

He is also accused of torturing and seriously injuring the victim, who was imprisoned in a cell, in the old police building in Brod.

According to his defense attorney Jadranko Hadžisejdić, Dedo Odobasic is sick and uses a wheelchair.
