Among the candidates for nine ministerial positions in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), there is one woman, and two future ministers were legally sentenced to conditional prison terms.
What will the 14th convocation of the Council of Ministers of BiH look like?
Borjana Kristo is the first woman to head the state government. She is a long-time member of HDZ BiH and a close associate of the party’s president, Dragan Covic.
The Presidency of BiH appointed Kristo as the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers on December 21st, and her election was confirmed on December 28th in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (PABiH).
She has a deadline of 35 days to propose a new convocation of the Council of Ministers, which, along with her, consists of nine other ministers.
Zoran Tegeltija is an official of Milorad Dodik’s SNSD, and since 2019 he has held the position of chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH.
Tegeltija was legally sentenced to a five-month suspended sentence before the Basic Court in Banja Luka for negligent work in the service while he was the head of the Sector for Customs Legal Affairs of the Banja Luka Customs Administration.
Zukan Helez is a member of the SDP BiH in the House of Representatives of the PABiH. Previously, in several mandates, he was a member of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the entities of the Federation of BiH (FBiH), and the Minister for Veterans Affairs in the Government of the entities of the FBiH.
In 2022, the Cantonal Court in Novi Travnik sentenced Helez to a nine-month suspended prison sentence for giving a false statement.
Dubravka Bosnjak currently holds the position of Deputy Director of the Agency for Banking of the FBiH.
She previously held the position of Director of the Credit and Placement Sector at the Investment Bank of the FBiH and performed the duties of Executive Director for Research, Development, and Lending at that bank, RSE reports.
