Only Lovers Left Alive at Kino Meeting Point

Only-Lovers-Left-AliveKino Meeting Point will show the film by Jim Jarmusch ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’ from 6 February.

The cult director of US independent film Jim Jarmusch deals with the popular vampire theme, but in an entirely different way than we are used to seeing.

His display of bloodthirsty monsters is based on a mythological, sociological and cultural approach– Jarmusch’s vampires are not only dependent on human blood, but also on art, good rock music and love.

Through the main protagonists, Jarmusch examines our state of society, while criticizing the modern era of the inane, alienation, consumerism and the complete dusk of cultural values. From the reviews: Vampires have never been so cool, so educated, nor as humane as shown in romantic comedies.

Vanity Fair wrote that this is the best film by Jarmusch in the last decade, probably more than ‘Dead Man’ from 1995, with which it shares a prevailing sense of tranquility, rashness and dangerous journey. The Hollywood Reporter said that it was refreshing to see that in Jarmusch’s world, the immortal also have a wish to live.
