Seventeen year old Amar Duran and Elvin Karkelja, students of Turkish-Bosnian College from Sarajevo got an idea to realize the project ”Full tumour cleansing”, in which they offer hopes to ill patients from cancer hope of healing via organic food.
”Elvin’s uncle has tumour, and my mum has on thyroid gland. Our aim is to help, but to all citizens of BiH whose family members have this grave illness. Mother Rejhana has already started with therapy”, said Duran for Dnevni Avaz.
With this project, Amar and Elvin presented themselves at the BOSEPO Olympics, which was held at the International Burch University in Sarajevo, where they won the silver medal.
”With the won medal, we’ve managed to qualify on two competitions. One will be held this year in Kenya, and the other in the Netherlands. It is expected that more than 120 representatives from the World will participate”, adds Karkelja.
Their project was supported by Clinical Centre of the University of Sarajevo, and the Association of Organic Producers gave them a table at the fair in order to educate citizens.
”In this way we try to raise awareness of dangers of cancer. The beginning was hard, but we were encouraged by a large number of doctors who supported our project.
As Duran said, before the beginning of the project, they did not have big ambitions to deal with medicine.
”We’ve thought about studying management or economy, but, when we saw how much we’ve contributed with this idea, we started thinking about studying genetics of pharmaceutics. The project we did is based on healing the sick and it lasts 15 weeks, with the organic diet that affects tumours”, said Duran.
