Carina-granica-prelazThe new computerized transit system (NCTS), which shortens the duration of customs procedures and helping to facilitate border crossing and trade of goods is one of the conditions for EU integration.

NCTS, which must be applied no later than one year before become a full member of the EU, is successfully used by 32 countries: 28 member states of the EU and four members of the European Agreement on Free Trade. Given that it allows the full electronic exchange of information, it is called ‘paperless customs’.

‘’The biggest advantage of the new transit system is the ability to use electronic communication and exchange of information, instead of the old procedure when they had to process papers after every crossing of the border.

This would allow the use of transit declaration entered once throughout the entire transport, and the goods will be able to follow at every moment.

B&H has been preparing regulations for the implementation of this project for one year already, is purchasing the necessary equipment and developing its own IT applications. B&H officials will share their own experiences with colleagues from Montenegro who are just starting with preparations for the project. It is expected that the new system in B&H will be introduced in 2015.
