Performance of Young Writers Today in SARTR Theater

writing-2The Sarajevo Writers Workshop, which is made up of a group of young authors will present their performance work today at SARTR theatre (in English, Bosnian and German languages).

The workshop was launched at the initiative and under the leadership of American author Stacy Mattingly.

This is a unique project that seeks to bring a culture of creative writing to our cultural scene.

As part of this workshop, around 10 short prose stories and poetry have been written, as well as one sevdalinka.

The goal of the workshop is not only practical learning of literary craftsmanship and proper cultivating of the existing creative energy, but also the development of a creative spirit, mutual cooperation and understanding of individual works through creativity and literature. It was conceived not as a classical school of writing under the auspices of authority, but as a summation of the creative strength of all its participants in equal measure. This workshop is the beginning of a different approach for young and unpublished authors to find their own language and their real readers.

“I joined this workshop because I recognized in it something that is lacking in our literary scene. Empty stories about providing opportunities to ‘‘young and unestablished’’ authors have become boring to me. Authors do not assert themselves at any price. Authors become serious through work and through criticism that we receive from other authors, their colleagues, regardless of how experiences or inexperienced they are. I liked it that for the first time in my life I have the chance to watch a work in progress and participate in its creation. As far as performance is concerned, we have prepared a surprise of musical content, of which some are authors, and the rest of the program will be devoted to our works, poetry, prose, and drama. This will be an interesting combination of sounds and music’’, said for Fena one of the participants to the workshop and performance Dijala Hasanbegović.

The performance begins at 20:00 and the entrance costs 3 KM.
